Aussie Tasting (Minneapolis, MN): Nice showing tonight and if anything young. Black pepper, black fruits, coffee beans, spice and earth. Medium plus finish. Solid aging potential.

At first the generous fruit this label was known for made a showing. With air the tannins became more astringent and this wine came into a bit more balance. Still a big wine, but not as voluptuous as past releases.

Yes, the drinking window is open here...in fact I'd say drink it now, or soon, it's fine and mellow and showing some delicious notes of ripe fruit, and I think this means not for the long haul.

Day 1: Quite mellow overall. Coffee beans, raspberries, sour cherries, mild Eucalyptus and pepper. Decant acidity and medium finish. Drinking well on a pop and pour. This certainly not the quality of the 2002 but a good everyday drinker at the price I paid for it. 91 points Day 2: Not surprising it is better. More fruit showing featuring raspberries, sour cherries and blueberries. Not your typical blackberries found in many Aussie Shiraz wines. Mild Eucalyptus, pepper, coffee beans and forest floor. Lacks acidity which costs this wine a point or two but very enjoyable. This wine is gone to be a long term ager which is typical of many E & E Black Pepper wines. 92 points Day 3: Really nice and shows promise for long term aging. Roasted meats, raspberries, cherry and blueberries. Nice spices, pepper and floral notes. Medium plus finish. Hold until 2024. 92 points Recommendation: Hold until 2024 and beyond.
