From Mag, opened but not decanted, oldest wine of this tasting, I preferred it over Montrose 2006 and Admiral 2006 and at paar with Moric Neckenmarkt 2011 (which is obviously much younger and therefore more fruit driven)

Best of Austria and some other supplements (@home): Glas: Zalto Universal Bottle opened about 2h before. Not Decanted. Clear, deep ruby color. Clean, medium intense, developing nose with lots of earthy tones, some lactic notes, black berries. Very deep and cool. Bone dry, medium+, well-integrated acidity. High alcohol (14,5%) perfectly integrated. Not hot, but it gives the wine a certain sweetness. High, silky tannin. On the palate ripe red fruit, some maraschino cherry. Lots of extract. Very elegant, great depth and length. Drinks much easier than the more rustic 2005! Very young. Potential for at least another decade! 93-94+

Blaufränkisch Tasting (@Private location): Glass: Riedel Vinum Syrah Great, deep purple color. BDX like, medium- intense nose. Dry, earthy notes, soil, powerful tannin, full bodied, great pressure on the palate, sour cherries, long finish. Very good wine which will continue to develop and I would love to re-taste in 5 and 10 years. Really one of the best Austrian reds I have ever tasted so far.

Rather stern, even a bit gaunt and ethereal nose with underlying fragrances of black pepper and lovage. The nose seemed a little bit absent. Its taste was far more convincing. Fresh acid, plenty of herbs, traces of animal traits and rather set back fruit flavours of pitch-black black currant and traces of bramble. Overall a cool character, despite higher alcohol. Give it at least 2 h to breath.

Another great wine - was decanted 7 hours before - and showed a very elegant but well focussed nose of dark berries. On the palate we had blackberry and mulberry in a refined and lingering finish. Be patient and enjoy!
