Super advert for Bordeaux blanc here- all the honeyed straw and dusty citrus peel goodness of semillon with the tropical cut of Sauvignon while avoiding flabbiness or cat’s piss aromas. Exuberant but balanced- the oak influence working in harmony with the primary fruit. Concentrated and zingy on the palate, fruity with texture and depth. Dangerously delicious

I have rated this wine on value for money as well as the experience. For 1/3 price of SHL and other Bordeaux blanc, it is a bit of bargain.
Very sauvignon blanc centric, the nose was pure passion fruit, lime and pineapple. The body follows the same path but with citrus and orange thrown in free of charge. All wrapped by a beautiful freshness and very well proportioned. A touch a salinity, honeysuckle at the finish and with some mineral as well.
And nope, there was no “pipi de chat” detected tonight.
Drink now (but decant) or 4+ years from now.

Agrumes austères tel que mentionné précédemment mais odeur agréable sans pipi de chat notable aujourd'hui. Vin un peu lourd selon moi sans la fraîcheur usuelle du sauvageon mais demeure agréable.

Continuing my train of experimentation with White Bordeaux. I've enjoyed red Chateau Larrivet Haut-Brion before, so when I saw their white wine on the shelf I was intrigued and thought I'd give it a try.
Medium-yellow in color. This wine is pretty aromatic, and I can smell it from my chest! The nose gives you...mango! Indeed, it's rich with mango and is accompanied by hints of honey and pineapple (strangely the makes me feel like I'm in the Philippines again). Upon sipping one is met with an acidic wine whose full body and high alcohol give it a voluptuous mouthfeel that sits heavily on the tongue. As for the flavor I'm getting even more mango, pineapple and honey along with some passion fruit and underlying mineral tones. The finish is long and off-dry with a slight lingering sweetness that rests with mango that is gradually replaced by lemon notes. The retronasal smell is dominated by the passion fruit, interestingly, which was entirely absent in the initial nose. Intriguing!
This is a delight to drink! It's much more fruit-forward than the Château Lynch-Bages Blanc de Lynch-Bages and lends itself to a more "mango-ey" experience. It's different, for sure, but still very good! This is perfect for the August heat here in Virginia.
And of course, keeping with tradition, I provide the wife's response: "It tastes like somebody added sugar to cough syrup in an attempt to get their kids to take it." Hmm. Sounds delicious!

87 pts
