  • Ekspressiv og druetypisk cabernet franc. 12,5% så ikke så kompakt og fyldig som 2018 og 2019. God vin men dette er en cuvee som også er veldig god i varmere år

  • Peach, apricot and baby food carrots. Dense tannins that are still quite fine, it’s a great expression of cab franc that hints at the same direction of rougeard.

  • Online Blind Tasting: Cabernet Franc plus some Pirates: *** tasting note based on 0,1l bottle. Half of the bottle tasted completely blind on day one, other half tasted two days later ***
    Glass: Zalto Universal
Clear, deep ruby color with purple reflexes. Clean, medium+ intense, youthful nose. Herbaceous, green pepper and stems, spicy, lots of sour cherries. Very dense.
Dry, high, racy acidity, high mellow tannin, only 12,5% abv. Medium body. On the palate very herbaceous, green/tart, sour cherries and spices. A bit “dirty”, but in the best sense. Very dense, juicy, lots of grip, very fresh. Long, cherry and herbal driven finish. Very young, potential for at least another decade. 92+

  • I keep saying I'll keep one of these for a number of years, but I always given in and open them too early. Classic Saumur-Champigny. Red fruit, green pepper, plenty of funk, good structure.

  • Only a bit of pyrazine but still unmistakably from the Loire. Broad tannin. Medium bodied and in density which surprises me a bit given the pedigree. Clearly some restraint behind the wine making which is a plus. They didn't go thinner for the sake of of virtue signaling but did seem to let the fruit do it's thing. Plenty of classic Cab Franc character though maybe redder than purple in primary fruit. The one big draw back was that the acid was lacking. It left the finish wanting even with the powerful tannin. I'd look at this as a medium term wine given the fruit doesn't seem like it's stout enough for long term cellaring. A good wine that seems to be a bit below it's price point and pedigree in build. I do not have prior experience with this bottling but I'm willing to bet this was not the best vintage for them.
