  • Keller Open Afterparty (Weingut Keller, Flörsheim-Dalsheim, Germany): A very special bottle KP shared with us that evening. He himself tried that wine the last time about ten years ago and just got at this Friday a bottle from a good customer, he generously poured us.
It was the first vintage from the Kirchspiel Turmstück (the predecessor of the Kirchspiel GG which was first label that way in 2002) but the Kellers did not dare to write it on the label as the vineyard was new (KP just got it after he returned from his studying in Geisenheim) and they wanted to check the potential. And I think he really nailed it here (as he does with the whole 2001 vintage). Still a youthful showing with the typical yellow stone fruit notes besides some yellow flowers and some crushed stone elements. The acidity dances on the palate, very precise and long finish with this elegance which makes the Kirchspiel one of the best vineyards under Kellers direction imo. What a debut.
