CdB Dinner (Christy's): Delicious Sauternes. For the price, this is a great value. Classic richness, not the densest or fullest Sauternes but excellent. Honeyed notes.
The alcohol was somewhat present which was a bit distracting and less enjoyable, but not sufficiently so that this isn't a good wine.

Clear yellowish golden color with a restrained nose fresh ripe tropical fruits and dried fruits with a little baking spice. The mouth feel is moderately unctuous, sweet but not overly sweet, the syrupy viscosity is there but it also contains just enough acidity to give it a refreshingly clean finish. Unfortunately, traces of residual alcoholic heat sticks out a bit though not too badly considering that this contains 14% abv. as indicated on the label. The weight on the palate is on the fuller side of medium body although it tasted much fuller and more “filled in” since I last had this back in 2019. As for the flavor component - notes of fresh, ripe, sweet yellow pineapples, yellow pomelos, dried apricots, and maybe dried figs dominates followed by clover honey and canned peach syrup with mild accents of cardamom with traces of the Botrytis inflected flavor was noted. The fruity and refreshing sweetness worked very nicely with the salty and creamy richness of Roquefort tonight. Though far from being the most complex Sauternes, it still performed quite well considering it’s modest price. A lovely second wine from Chateau Rieussec. From a 375 ml. bottle.

Disappointing compared to the 2018. Significantly less intensity and complexity.
