Nice... but... but is it not too young? I think it is... despite the number of people who rated it already. I have a 2017 bottle and I set the drinking window to 2025 🥺
Dark ruby cloudy red color. Nice.
Full body. Well felt tanines. Medium acidity even with the sweet ending which is always expected from Amarone wines.
Amazing on the nose... an addicting mixture of terroir, barrels, fruits, dried fruits, spices, ageing and more 👏👏👏
Same richness on the palate👏 but in a little rough way 👏🥺
Very enjoyable

Medium(+) ruby-purple, translucent, tainted rim, viscous @15% abv. Brooding aromas of blackberry, underbrush, smoke, violet, meat. Dry, medium(+) acidity, medium(+) tannin, high alcohol and full body. Palate of red cherry, cassis, grilled meat, tobacco, pepper. Wide ranging mouthfeel, silky fatty ('milk') texture with some alcohol heat remaining. Long finish with good fruit showing amid all this power exerted by the tannins and alcohol resulting in beautifully balance. At €30 this is a steal.

Retail $70. Gambero Rosso 3. 70% Corvina Veronese, 25% Rondinella, and 5% Corvinone. Big Ass Bottle. All cards on the table: I do not drink a ton of Amarone. Thus, when I get a sample of the famed Northern Italian red, I am both excited to learn as well as intimidated by a style that, at best, is a bit foreign to me. I won't describe the process that makes this wine unique; google it. But this is pretty darned tasty. Quite dark in the glass with heavy doses of black fruit (blackberry, cassis, plum) alongside spice (clove, black pepper), and floral aspects (lavender, violet, rose). On the palate, frankly, I was expecting a bit heavier of a wine, but this was a pleasant surprise. While not "light on its feet" it did certainly highlight not the heft but the finesse with plenty of the aforementioned fruit, ample layers of depth, and a rather high level of panache (or whatever the Italian equivalent is). My fears subsided, I was wowed by this wine. Whoa.
