Deep garnet in color with bricking edges. Nose of stewed prunes and hint of leather and violets. Tastes of stewed cherries, expresso, and leather. Light on fruit, sufficient acidity, and oxidated. Past its prime. Drank well with ribs.

Interesting, single-vineyeard, traditional style amarone. The nose is very tight and subdued, but the palate is quite nice. Drinking well and by not at all over the hill.

Traditional amarone. Tiny and short nose, but the palate in the mouth makes it all worth.. Wow. Mature and fullbodied, and still with fruit, acids and lovely soft tannins.. Will still be good for the next 3 years. I am sorry that it was my last bottle.. Now I have to start on 2000. My second best speri amarone. The best was speri amarone dbl. Mg 1990 served at speri place at a lovely dinner with speri family..

had this fantastic wine with our good friends the weisbergs and jacobs in celebration of birthdays, anniversarys @ Sposita's(Tony the owner was in rare form) . classic amarone. young but very drinkable. outstanding bottle of wine. Also had the 1998 Allegrini La Poja which was beautiful as well as the still singing Falesco Montiano. Great wine night.
