  • Did not really have time to let it open up, as we were drinking this with dinner at Beaune's Wine Bar. But overall we were pleased with this bottle, which paired well with our duck confit and wagyu ground beef steak. Notes of spice and fruit (raisins?)

  • This is an oustanding Vosne 1er. The nose combines scents of griottes and blackberry jam plus piercing minerality and tantalizing hints of some smoky exotic fruit. There is excellent ripeness and sweetness, but more surprisingly (considering the vintage), also excellent structure. This gives great pleasure now but is definitely a serious, ageworthy wine as well. Extremely long and elegant on the finish.

(Hudelot-Noellat Vosne-Romanée Les Beaumonts) Medium ruby red. The nose is so characteristic of Vosne that you could easily spot it without help from the label. A spicy base with appealing fruit that slowly closes up in the glass - takes about 30 minutes - the fruit remains at a lower register together with some coffee and less appealing cigarette ash. The palate is medium concentrated with a smooth palate, lingering acidity and slightly grainy tannin. The finish is long with penetrating red fruit, currently shows some slightly bitter oak tannin though. This just needs a couple of years to round out - should be a very nice wine - has the balance to go much longer too.
