Bought this wine cheap off Winebid just for the novelty of trying a 2000 Bien Nacido. An hour or so in the decanter. Bacon/smoke nose, raspberry on entry leading into dark fruit on the backend with just a hint of sweetness. Tannins still lively. You can taste the Bien Nacido terroir. The wine has aged well.

Lots of alcohol and prunes on the nose with very tiny hints of blueberry fruit at times. Stewed fruit on the palate and a biting astrigency with a hot mouthfeel. I think it was cooked, but maybe just way over the hill. Have 1 more of these, so hopefully its a little better.

Cali Syrah and a Few Close Friends (Snowgoose): This wine is definitely past prime and on the decline. The nose alone smelled like old wine with menthol/alcohol dominating. No fruit left on nose and it was barely holding on for the palate. I guess some people like "mature" wine, but not for me. At least a little fruit is necessary.
Brown Jug Syrah Tasting: While this wine was mature, there was still elements of that gorgeous full fruit of Jaffurs offerings. The acid was coming through a but much at this point. It's lost some of its stuffing. I found it a little more enjoyable then most of the people. 82-84

Second bottle of this was much better. Mature flavor profile with some blueberry and smooth tannins.
