Had no idea how this would age. The color is still deep, and barely shows its age. A mouthful of fruit that took about one hour in a decanter to really show itself. David’s signature is all over this… or should I say, the plots used for this wine are fully expressed. Aside from the ripe fruit, hints of garrigue and spices are omnipresent but explode in the mouth. The tannins are silky but present, with a nicely balanced acidity that keeps the wine fresh. This is so much fun to drink, yet quite complex. This is what high altitude Rioja Alavesa is all about.

Alcoholic fumes reminiscent of window cleaner. Not that I clean windows. Is it Windex?
Pleasant palate, modern and sleek fruit, but not massively dissimilar to the nose. Pleasant aged vinegar tang adds pseudo class like feaux leather.
