Community Tasting Notes (28) Median Score: 93 points

  • I am sorry to say but the low scores below are justified. I have been drinking wines from this Estate since before 2008 and this is clearly the most disappointing. The comments re: Caymus are justified. It is flabby, over sweet with no back bone at this point. I have not experienced another wine of theirs like this. I had a 2013 recently and not similar. Hope the Wight is not like this.

After 5 hours - I think this is better than my initial comments. Gains much from breathing. Still not to my taste but better than 85 - maybe broaching 90 points. There is still an imbalance to it.

  • Two hours slow ox. Bright blue and blackberry pie on the nose. Right out of the bottle, there was some heat, but at the two hour mark that's disappeared.

Wine has a syrupy appearance on the stems but isn't particularly lush or syrupy on the palate. Blackberries now dominate but blueberries remain a viable force. Although on the Sweet side, overall, this is a solid wine that would go as well with grilled seafood or pork as it would with beef.

  • This is absolute garbage. I’m embarrassed for a Napa Winery that would make this plonk. Sweet, over ripe and nose you already know this is complete crap. Several family members couldn’t drink this. For $10 I wouldn’t buy this crap. Literally the worst Napa Cab ever. People rating this 90 plus know nothing about wine. For a sweet dessert wine it’s not worth it. Maybe as an ice cream topping or in Coq Au Vin or Beef Bourgouignon where it belongs but not for human consumption.

  • great purity of fruit, tannins fully integrated, drinking beautifully. Classic Lewelling ripeness without any jammy or overripe notes, has that napa cab alcohol sweetness at 15.5%, wouldn't be surprised if it measured a little higher. While I may personally lean for more of a European acidity with typical cab food matches, there is no denying the enjoyment of perfectly ripe grapes minimally vinified into wine.

  • Literally one of the worst, sweetest CA Cabs I’ve ever had. Actually worse than Caymus. Horrible, sugary, fruit bomb. Will never buy again. 4 bottles left I’ll use to cook with.
