Day 1: rather restrained, the oak influence is rather apparent. Therefore, decided to try it the day after.
Day 2: nose has opened up a little bit, oak has calmed down a bit more. On the nose, fresh ground white and black pepper corns, ripe lemon and lemon zest, limoncello burning sensation, French butter, Lilly bulb and stalks. Restraint still.
Missing the transparency and brightness on the palate. Perhaps the wine has enter its dormant state?

Fresh cut lemon/grapefruit with a touch of elegant nuttiness from the long elevage.
Medium acid with powerful citrus/mineral finish.
The nose is good, but the palate is great. This earns the iron fist/velvet glove comparison. It’s powerful and concentrated without sacrificing any elegance.

not blind, magnum CL is a safe bet in recent years. Even the village wine has a great structure and power. Easier to drink than his 1er cru at this time. 93

Lemon curd, bright acidity. What you would expect from the producer and year.
