A Tuesday in Queens. Part 1000 :): YOUNG - still needs time. More of an auslese than a spat. Rich, with peach and apricot fighting through pineapple and mango. Long finish. great acidity. Very good now but will improve.

White Wines 10 years and above (Extra Space): Appearance is clear, medium intensity, bright yellow colour. Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, with aromas of smoky petroleum/kerosene and light white floral scents. On the palate, medium- sweetness balanced with high acidity, lots of primary fruit flavours of apricots, pineapple, orange peel with just a hint of bitterness, and lots of minerality also. Long finish. Drinking well now, but this will not change much in the near term. I would suggest revisiting in 10-15 years' time.

A private dinner at a friend's (London, UK): Riesling on basalt, that is exactly what it is. Medium-sweet, nice weight, smoky, strong note of herbs (aniseed, thyme even), minerals and some flowers, lovely acidity; good length, complete. Fully mature and drinking very well, another five years in hand.
