  • A surprisingly decent display for a wine that l honestly didn’t expect a lot from. A modestly price cab that l thought was decent and it did not disappoint. A rich purple red color and leather and flowery nose. On the palate, dark cherry and dark berry fruits, plum and leather. Decent and a nice midweek wine, probably a crowd pleaser. 91+/ 92 points for me.

  • Sadly our last bottle but in terrific condition. Decanted off the residue for ~30 minutes. Very similar tasting profile as last year. Virtually seamless integration on the palate and finish. Such a treat.

  • Ten Years On - 2012 Cabernet Sauvignons (Canoehead Central): This was pleasing in appearance (bright shiny crimson garnet) and so delightfully complex on the nose. Mixed berry and cherry compote smothered on cinnamon toast. Great concentration on the palate without smothering. There was a vibrant energy to this wine. Someone had quality fruit to work with and didn’t dress it up with too much oak or extraction. Well-balanced. Barely missed out on the top of the podium, finished second. Four out of eight tasters had this as their favourite. Sincere thanks to the Roses for picking a spectacular wedding wine for their special day eight years ago and serving this to their friends and family. We’re on our second last bottle. Delish!

  • This is coming together nicely. Bright and energetic, showing ripe and dusty black cherries atop savory notes of conifer, licorice, graphite, and smoke. It flaunts a clever tannic structure, with lovely tension between chocolate versus dark fruit sweetness and vibrancy. Delicious now with a decant but no hurry.

  • CT has this as drink by 2019, so I was worried I’d held it too long. But, upon opening and decanting, the still deep garnet red color was revealed. Initial tasting seemed a bit thin, but it not took 10 minutes to start opening up with the flavors growing deep and rich. Oaky on the nose. Tannins quite mellowed and soft. Still good red and black fruit flavors.
I have one more bottle and am in no hurry to drink it - probably peaked, but should last a few more years.
