Intense nose with lots of dark cherries and some sweet spices. On the palate ripe cherries, blueberries, some ripe strawberries, soft mineral notes and some nice oaky notes. Medium (+) bodied with a nice medium intense acidity. Silky tannins, very nicely integrated. Powerful and deep structure. Great complexity. Fruit is quite dominant here. Very nice, long and savory finish. This is young - but it’s already fun! Powerful yet elegant. If you like them young you won’t be disappointed now. Great quality. But definitely no need to hurry. Drink now until 2037. (IG)

2018 Visit to Domaine Henri Gouges with Grégory Gouges (Nuits St. Georges): A beautiful bouquet. A mélange of red and black berry perfumes with earth and minerals and a touch of spicy oak. In the mouth, surprisingly approachable. Silky and seamless with fine grained tannins. Rich but austere at its core. Real subtance, persistence and power. Unsurprisingly, the best of the 2017s.

PoB - Burgundy 2017 En Primeur (Hong Kong): Walkabout tasting, only brief impressions. Much more structure than the Porrets but the tannins are of good quality. Dark fruit, fresh, mineralic. Promising, great progress at Henri Gouges, the rustic wines are a thing of the past. 94+
