Amazing to come back to this wine after tasting from barrel 5 years ago. This has wonderfully developed with notes of juicy raspberries, plums a slight touch of figs, bay leaves, crushed florals and cedar notes. The palate is seductive and alluring with juicy red fruits, crushed red roses, savoury spices, soya sauce and toasty oak, the mid-palate is layered and nearly velvety in terms of texture with an elegant, focus and long finish. 96++

25122022 - Christmas night bottle at home with home-cooked din. Surprised with the nose being so Burgundian. Savory, mushroom, ripe cherry, decadent strawberry & so much forest floor + dark spices. Immediately reminded me of the Burgs from Gevrey Chambertin. Palate: well balanced with velvety smooth tannins and structure. A lot of finesse and yet there is some sort of umaminess that envelopes the whole mouth. Lovely from start to finish. Drink now or hold for the next 3-8 years

Mid ruby. Cranberry, sour cherry, sousbois, spice. Pronounced aromas and palate. Medium tannins, high acidity, long finish, good complexity. Restrained, elegant style that should improve with additional time in bottle. Excellent wine.

This developed into ever greater refinement and elevation over the course of 1 hour+. Just terrific.
At first, raspberry and unripe plum, underlying black tea with just a touch of forest floor and just tremendous silk and weight to the body. White pepper emerges but never goes full celery like Oregon pinot sometimes does.
Develops further into dark cocoa, long and rich marmalade with a burnt orange finish. Still with a smoky / tea backbone. Delicious.

Very similar to my tasting note from 2021. This is not your ordinary Pinot Noir. Aussie’s do Burgundy? How is that possible?
