Upon opening the bottle was greeted with a nose of fine leather, stewed plum, with an earthen layer. The palate includes boysenberry compote, mocha, earth, and some toasted oak. The tannins are crazy smooth, but have enough grip to be noticed. Up front, this wine is worthy of praise, but fell a little flat in the middle and finished short. I feel this winery is under-rated, and produces great wines at an incredible value. Looking to acquire more for the cellar. Would have scored a little higher if it had just a little more complexity in the middle. Drink sooner than later, up to 2026.

Pop'n'pour with 15 minutes of the first glass standing: Velvety milk chocolate to begin, and ends with leathery mocha and dry herbs. A touch of black cherry is present on the forepalate, but it takes a backseat. Perhaps some time decanting will help matters.
Second glass 1.5 hours later: Cherries are really showing beautifully now, and the balance has improved. 3 points added.
Day 2: Still lovely.

Heavy sediment indeed - literally stained my fingers when I took the cork off the worm. Licorice dominant on the nose and the front end, nice earthy quality on the finish. Tannic at first (decanted/aerated and poured) but fairly balanced acidity.
Liked it, didn’t love it. No complaints.

Strong, a bit bitter but taste great. Has lots of sediments that will leave stain on your mouth.
