Still young. Needs some oxidation. Better on day two. Middle of the road Merlot. I’m Ridge member and I like Merlot but there are many better offerings than this for the price.

This pours a deep red ruby in the glass. On the nose I get jammy red fruit, a meaty/gamey note and a wisp of smoke. The palate leads with a pronounced dose of candied fruit, some jumpy acid and moderate drying tannins on the finish. Overall this seems a bit disjointed but I'd be curious to see if these elements pull together over time. It's a decent wine now but I'd hold a couple of years.

The first glass was a bit heavy on the American Oak but then after being open for about an hour everything came together and wow this was really enjoyable. Interestingly this was already throwing noticeable sentiment on the neck of the bottle. Wish I had more!

Not even close to ready - very tight even 24 hours after decanting

Big and rich Merlot, reminds me more of Seavey than Ridge.
