  • Deep crimson, no bricking. Mulberry and subtle blackcurrant notes with a hint of mint. Fine tannins and fading acidity. Really good with steak pie…

  • Much better than 5 years ago. Tannins are definitely still present , and I’m not sure the fruit will outlast them. Dark cherry and blackberry fruit with a subtle mint or eucalyptus note. Slightly drying finish which, to me at least, suggests this is on its downhill slide. Really nice now nonetheless .

  • Tomato stalk, barnyard and red fruit on nose. Medium full bodied on tongue with plush flavour and medium long finish. Very enjoyable wine

  • It pours a dark garnet color with exuberant black currant, black cherry, plum skin, dried herb, leather, vanilla, and a kiss of mint and dill aromas. On the palate it’s medium-bodied with mouth-watering acidity and velvety tannins with black currant, black cherry, plum, and cacao flavors accented with very appealing savory notes. Long finish. 13.8% abv.

100% Merlot from the Monte Bello (Yes, THAT Montebello!) vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Fruit for this wine is sourced from various parcels situated between 1,300’ and 2,700’. Raised in 100% air dried American oak; 60% new, 40% y.o. for 21 months. Fermented on native yeast.

  • Really shining with some grilled Iberico Secreto. Has so much fruit and chocolatey loveliness on the nose that you almost miss the sandpaper fine tannins and the very well balanced finish on this beauty. Lovely. I said hedonistic but my friends argued for melancholic. It probably is both.

Edit: upped the score - it was so good and everyone else had this as the WOTN (I had a Stony Hill 2010 Cabernet and a Arnot Robert’s Trout Gulch 2015 Chardonnay as my WOTN.)
