  • Biscuits and intense apple pie; this is a particularly good bottle. Ripe, creamy pear, smoked apricot, orange, caramel, charcoal aromas, really complex. The palate has plenty of lift, with a hint of fig joining pear, cooked apple, white grape and orange blossom flavours. There's a touch of flor here. Excellent.

  • 100% Viura with an average age of more than 40 years, aged 4 years in American oak barrels, 12.5% vol. Labelled as Crianza, but at Lopez de Herardia this is always relative and might be a bit confusing for novices.

Enjoyed the first half after 6 hours in the decanter and the second half 4 days later without any recognizable difference. On the nose very complex with a mixture of yellow stone fruits, honey, almonds and a suggestion of curry. On the palate creamy, a lemony acidity, good depth and a very long finish with an after taste that corresponds nicely to the impression on the nose, gorgeous.

Classic and oxidative style, unique as all whites and rosados from López de Heredia. Gravonia might have less depth than Tondonia, but it is more approachable at this stage. Drink now or within the next 10, 20 years, in any case give it a lot of air to get more of the fruit and don't serve it too cold, 14°C is ideal.

  • Always this wonderful combination of oxidation and freshness. Apricot jam, orange peel, almond and nuts, Stollen, Xmas spices. Creamy and acidic, round and fresh, silver and gold.

  • The first thing I smell is caramelised nuts, specifically almonds and hazelnuts. Toffee too, and freshly harvested mushrooms. The palette is so delicious but it is impossible for me to identify individual flavours. Amazing stuff.
