  • Quite lovely, but even at age 7 it needs more time. Bought it for drinking though, so gave it a 45 min decant and served with a charcuterie plate. The Eyrie Vineyard (named after nesting Hawks in the vineyard) planted 1965 - 1974 and is the original PN planting in the Willamette. Aged in 12% new oak, 88% used, native yeast. Lots of cherry and spice here and it paired well with food, but a little more fruit forward than expected. I read that 2016 was a fairly hot vintage in the Willamette and it shows. I feel it has lots of life ahead and will round out in another few years once the fruit smooths out more. This wine has a history of great vintages, but I don't think this will compare with the best vintages.

  • This aromatic wine mixes hints of thimbleberries with a light whiff of compost. The flavors follow in line, with wild raspberry fruit and a bit of mocha. It's firmly anchored in svelte ripe tannins, and just a touch of chocolate.

  • An elegant Oregon pinot. Needs some time to open up, initially some funk that blows off after a decant. I enjoyed it. My wife commented that she at first thought it had a nose of crab, which is odd but after an hour that was gone and you get predominantly cherry with some earth.

  • Medium intensity dark ruby colour; great perfume - fruit here has real restraint, very reminiscent of a Burgundy. Possible whole bunches used here - stemmy complexity and freshness. Fruit has a sauvage berried complex character - very enticing; lovely mouth-feel, texturally has real interest. A little sweetness on the finish possibly betrays its new world origin. Very good Oregon PN.

  • A pleasant, easy to drink pinot. Probably at similar level to a village burgundy. I wasn't sure if they used any whole clusters but I thought I tasted some stems. The new world bubble gum fruit was left, right and center. Decent length but lacked depth and complexity one associated with old vines. For me not worth the price (~US$65) but I preferred this to a lot of California pinots.
