Decanted half a bottle, which improved throughout the night, especially around the two hour mark. Lithe, flexible, lightweight in the mouth, delicious on its own or with food. Some combination of light young fruit and darker, broodier fruits. Soil in there lurking way in the back along with animal notes. Second half of the bottle poured the next day was lovely too. Really interesting wine. Will stock and age – want to follow this one.

Complex saline red fruits with enough supporting structure to show its potential age-ability. Earthy, complex, and nuanced palate. Continued improvement with more time in the glass. Likely better in two plus years. Bravo Eyrie.

Sampled at the winery tasting room in McMinnville. This cru was previously called "Original Vines" Pinot Noir but is now referred to as "The Eyrie" presumably due to the number of vines that have now had to be replanted in that vineyard over the years. It still is from the same, original vineyard and still composed of fruit from the older vines. It is made up of roughly 55% Pommard clone and 45% Wädenswil clone Pinot Noir. Great structure here, lots of aging potential. Earthy, a little "funky" in a good way, spicy. Sharp acidity and some ample dusty tannin. Chewy black cherry, pink pepper and lots of mineral notes (saline?) with a long finish. This is a wine that an old friend would call "soulful".
