Community Tasting Notes (5) Avg Score: 89.4 points

  • Popped and poured, consumed over 3 hours. Nose: Predominately dark red ripe fruit - red currant, pomegranate, and raspberry with a little floral scent, overall a very nice nose. Palate: Nice mouth feel, low acidity, dominated by ripe (but not overly) red fruit. Finish: Medium length showing the red fruit characteristics. The nose faded towards the end of the consumption period, but the palate sensation and finish remained pretty consistent.

  • Decanted for an hour and consumed over 4 hours. Nose: Initially big ripe strawberries with a little vanilla. It later turned darker showing black cherry with a hint of black pepper. Palate: Medium bodied with black cherry, blueberry, and spice. Finish: Medium length with a mild pucker factor. Not a simple wine, evolved over time revealing complexities, shows promiise to get better with a little bottle age. 89+

  • A hint of strawberry on the nose which follow through on the taste buds. Nice medium-long finish. Enjoyable.

  • Two years since trying the last bottle, this is still plenty packed and stacked. It even has a streak of green that I don't remember from the previous bottle. That said, it's more enjoyable. The harshness is gone, and there's plenty of acidity backing up the dark red fruits, the spicy cherry compote remains, and it's a generally excellent wine. Be interesting to see it in another year or two.

  • This wine has a nice, expansive nose which is clearly Pinot, with some sous bois, red fruit, and a bit of warmth. The palate shows hard spice, spicy cherry compote, and other rich, red fruit. Plenty of structure, I think this wine will do better in a year or more, and clearly has the stuffing to go a ways. There is a harshness on the attack that softened after an hour in the glass, but still peeks around the corner, keeping this from being a 90-point wine at this time. If this component softens (and I assume it will) then, for me, this will be an excellent wine.
