  • I felt like this was a classic and honest expression of Bandol. Why would you seek out a Bandol wine instead of a blend from the Rhone? With Mourvedre playing a stronger role, you get a wine that's perhaps more earthy and balanced than some Rhones that give you tart Grenache and heavy Syrah, with not much in between.

There's nice fruit here, but there's good minerality to go with it. With the fruit, it's the plum notes that take the lead. Not surprising that a wine with a high percentage of Mourvedre would present that way.

I'd like to have this again.

  • Excellent qpr. Full flavor with depth, medium+ tannin. Savory oak day one, recedes day two. Thinking this will improve over 5-10 yrs. But really nice now if you like tannin.

  • When i pulled the foil off, you could tell the cork leaked. Had the bottle for 3 months, so when i popped it, it was corked. Very disappointed. Was really excited to try this one. Have to assume it leaked in transit and doesn't help that Florida was in the 90's in July when it was delivered. Might buy a replacement or two from WineText when it's cooler in FLA.

  • Deep intense red color. On the nose, subtle aromas of black fruit and old leather. On the palate, flavors of black fruit, licorice, spices. The tannins are soft with long lasting finish.

Food Pairing: Great with grilled meat, games and strong cheeses.
