Gaja Tasting (Knightsbridge): Retailer tasting. Similar to the 2015 Barbaresco, this is quite floral and elegant, with rose petal, cherry and currants. Currant, cherry and rose water flavors; really well-balanced. Young and firm. 92+ pts.

Decanter Gaja Masterclass - 30 Years of Legendary wine making presented by Gaia Gaja (Decanter FWE, The Landmark hotel, London): 70-80yr old vines, another Sori so top of the hill but this is closer to the river. Lighter on the nose and a bit of a hybrid at times between Sori Tildin and Costa Russi. More citrussy than the rest, lighter on the palate though, bit more spirited, youthful and granted 5yrs from hitting its full stride still full of elegance and charm. Too young to rate for us but still a super solid wine.

Blackberries, dark cherries, still a little harsh. Nice cold mineral notes. These needs at least 8-10 years before getting in its drinking window but it will be beautiful in the future. (Tasted at Decanter Fine Wine Encounter 2019 Masterclass.)
