We are learning to serve whites closer to room temp and this was a classic example of why. It really opened up as it warmed. At first it was very quiet and not very interesting. By the finish we really enjoyed both the nose and the palette.

A little flat & almost oily/waxy - not enough acidity, especially for the varietal. This paled in comparison to a cheap NZ sauv blanc we opened at the same time. Somewhat complex, but maybe more in the style of a White Bordeaux? Is there any Semillon in this?

Pale light straw in color with a slight spritz upon opening. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of grapefruit, lemons/limes & melon with overtones of floral notes of honeysuckle, minerals, wet stones & lemongrass. Light bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, zesty, ripe fruit flavors of lemons & limes, white grapefruit & tart green apple, with lemongrass, stony & minerals. Lingering crisp finish. Drinks quite well at present but may benefit from an additional year of further aging. FWIW, sampled this wine on numerous occasions & it is not a "75" point wine unless it was an off bottle and/or someone needs a remedial course in wine rating!

Recently released and bottled under screwcap, this pale yellow wine has a slight spritz that quickly dissipates after opening, but has no reductive notes. Serving up an attractive array of white peaches, passion fruit, lemon verbena, grapefruit and melon on both the nose and palate, it is a fresh, light-bodied white with seamless alcohol (12.5%) and no detectable oak. Remaining vibrant throughout the mid-palate, it proceeds to a lengthy finish. With this bottling, Margerum has captured the grape's fruitier side, which will make it broadly appealing. Enjoy it in its youth. Drink now-2021.
