  • I hesitate to put a rating on this. The cork was very crumbly and fractured on opening. The aroma and color were still OK, but even after a half day of breathing, there was something missing from the fruit. I'm not sure whether this reflected the state of the cork or the age of the wine. Thankfully, I have one more bottle left from the case and will try to form a judgment next time. Having said all this, it was still a fairly decent wine.

  • Looks like I've had this 5yrs ago. This was still intense and young, with a distinct red fruit core. Palate was still quite firm with some hard tannins on the transition into the finish. Has power--some nuance too--but still need 5-10yrs to soften the structure.
Showed really well on day 3, nice core of dark red fruit. Bumped a point.

  • Aromatic with some anise and dark fruit. Raspberry, cherry, but a TON of structure. This has many miles to go yet. The acidity is balanced, not sharp, so I’m not sure what a comparative vintage would be (thought about 93 or 96) but I think this is a long way from maturity.

  • Decanted for about 2 hours. Nose of dried cherry, ripe forest berries, sous-bois and smoke. Almost a bit barolo like. On the palate raspberry, dried dark cherries, leather and forest floor with some stoney and iron-like notes. Good maturity with some complexity but uncertain, if the whole potential is being shown since there seems to be some reluctance. Other than that very delicious. Rather on the rich and intense side

  • Decanted 1 hour and drank over the next 2. Complex nose of red and blue fruit, violets, rose, cedar, earth, stone. Medium alcohol, med + acidity, med + to high tannin. Masculine, elegant, and substantial but well balanced.
