  • 13.5% - Clear, med to deep purple / clean, med to pronounced intensity - blackberry, black raspberry, green bellpepper, freshly cracked black pepper, barnyard funk that dissipates after a while, iron-graphite edge / dry, high racy acidity, med tannin, med body, med to pronounced intensity, med+ length. Young, expressive, full of verve and I have to agree with Hanibal TN below about the predominant reduction at first... an hour+ in the decanter surely helped.
If I were to compare with the other Breton cuvées (Trinch, La Dilettante, Avis de Vin Fort...) to be dressed in a hipster style, the Nuits d'Ivresse surely is more on the "business casual" side of things!

  • Nose was very reductive when first opened I was about to give up on it but gave it some time in the glass...after 15min the reduction blew off and what was left was raspberry and pyrazines, very typical cab franc smell from the Loire Valley that I like so much but many I understand dislike. In the mouth acidity is pretty high alcohol is medium low and tannins are medium. Color is magenta. The taste in the mouth is of a great sweet attack followed by some drying tannins and a finale with good lenght. Given the price certainly worth holding on a few for 5 years to develop some complexity.

Beau vin! 90
