Ripe fruit still red fruited with a Giacosa like hard candy feel to it. Roses, tar with more meaty ferrous undertones on the nose and palate. It's ripe and round, yet very well balanced on the palate with more of the ripe fruit, florals and some bouillon savory notes and leather adding to it all. At peak and I doubt it will improve from here. 93

Decanted and rebooted to breathe for 2.5 hours. Light ruby color. Almost no nose when first opened (horror!) but cheeries came through when poured later. Delightful taste throughout mouth, excellent finish. For a 25-year wine, it did not disappoint. Served with a Parmesean Pasta with Peas and Proscuitto.

NK Cappellano Vertical (Maialino, Gramercy Park Hotel, NYC): Sweeter black cherry in the nose (compared to the 1989). Silky sweet and gorgeous in the mouth. A delicious wine. Much more supple and ready than the 1989, with the silkiness typical of the vintage. A superb wine.
