  • PnP. ABV 13%. €32.50 before taxes and shipping charges. My first experience with this producer. Floral with typical Cabernet Franc funk. Fairly clean, no Brett. Dark plums like, lively acidity. Fine-grained tannins but finished a tad dry. Lightly extracted style and elegant, just medium bodied. No distracting oaks at backend, just a touch of pencil shavings. No hint of alcohol at finish, well balanced. An excellent punt at the price point, a producer to follow in the future. If I operate a wine bar or restaurant, I would serve this by the glass. 92++.

  • Red fruit, animal, bell pepper. Beautiful wine that we enjoyed with beef teriyaki.

  • -- decanted approx. 30 min. before initial taste --
    -- tasted non-blind over a few hours --

NOSE: ripe red fruits; rich and expressive; stony; cherry-pomegranate-cranberry juice.

BODY: garnet color of medium to medium-deep depth; medium to medium-full bodied.

TASTE: camphor and cherry; quite ripe, but not overblown; soft-but-grippy tannin; slightly stony; 13% alc. not noticeable; adequate acidity (medium to medium+); slight background leather/savory note. Overall, I find this to be excellent, although ripe and polished. I believe this will improve with time.

  • En-Primeur campaign for the 2021 vintage; 4/25/2022-4/29/2022 (Bordeaux): dense and ripe for a loire cabernet franc with no bretty notes and only the hint of pencil shavings and graphite; more in the lightweight Cabernet Sauvignon space for me with a little green capsicum, gentle tannins but presence in the mouth

  • Darker in profile than the Clos Nouveau. Stone fruit, cassis, baking chocolate, and in the background some leafy Cab Franc notes. In spite of the difference in elevage, to me the wood is less overt at this point than the Clos Nouveau this vintage. Full bodied, structured, and very well balanced. This has excellent depth and sap and good underlying acidity to carry it. This seems more integrated at this time than The Clos Nouveau. More leafy and savory on the palate than the more fruit driven nose would suggest. This is deep, serious Cabernet Franc in need of substantial bottle age, but it seems to have what it needs to be pretty special in time. 93+

Day two, this has opened a bit with more stone fruit, black cherry and floral notes. Still structured and a bit firm, but is giving more. Finishes with firm ripe tannins. Quite long on the back end with lovely lingering perfume and leafy, bell pepper varietal notes. This just needs cellar time to be really special.
