  • Kein definierter Fehlton, wie TCA, aber vegetabile, (Blumen)kohlartige Note. Uncharakteristischer Bitterton, metallisch, sehr kurz im Abgang.

  • From memory: Very disappointing given price, vintage and pedigree. The oak is all over the place, obscuring any fine nuances that may lie underneath. The fruit seems to be fading, and there is a surprising lack of depth. I can't find any outright flaws, which makes me even more puzzled. Drinks like it's on the decline, but is there an off chance that I'm actually too early (it did improve somewhat throughout the evening)? Sadly that's a question that will remain unanswered, since I'd rather stick a fork in my leg than pay $150 for another bottle of this stuff.

  • Tasted at l'hostellerie de Levernois over dinner. Fortunate for this vintage to still be on the list. very nice to start the weekend in Burgundy. the cellars and vineyards await today!
Bottle still has plenty of legs to stand the test of time, but is highly drinkable and injects that Volnay velvety smoothness today

  • Typical Lafon high extraction and late harvested sweet fruit. Very good showing. Open but with some grip.

(Comtes Lafon Volnay Champans) Medium-plus colour. Dark fruits, a little oak and floral tones - violets on the nose. Meatier tannins and good dry extract too though the tannins aren’t quite covered. The length is very impressive, dark and interesting.
