Community Tasting Notes (3) Avg Score: 89 points

  • Color/App: translucent, light/medium ruby core -> diffuse, light ruby rim. Wonderful, concentrated bouquet of sour cherries, watermelon, leather and a bit of balsamic reduction. Cherries and leather again on the juicy palate with a good (appropriate for Barbera) lashing of acidity. Moderate tannic load and good body (more than I expected given the somewhat light color) leading to a good, medium-long finish. Went great with Mediterranean chicken pizza. Excellent QPR at $14 on sale and certainly able to age 5+ years from here.

  • Single blind tasting
Medium ruby color with minimal rim clearing
Medium plus aromas of red/ black cherry with hint of orange peel and dark florals as well as leather and touch of VA - fairly complex
Medium plus bodied and rather full palate of ripe red/blue fruit with green notes
High acidity which dominates this wine - Medium minus tannins and medium plus alcohol and nice length, driven by the acidity
This wine is made for food and price point is great
    Drink now for its exuberance

  • Single blind tasting
    Pale ruby
Aromatics medium. Initial VA, followed by plums, cherry, dark red florals. Secondary of leather.
Palate has medium body. Acid high. Tannins medium, fine. Alcohol medium +. Tart cherry and plums.
Finish has medium length. Balance towards the acid.
Dry glass notes of leather and earth
Despite the acid, it all seems to go together. Clearly a food wine
    Drink now
