  • Explosive, gamey nose upon open. Settled down after about 45 minutes. Great intensity, med/dark red fruit, clove, and a hint of brown sugar. Robust, brooding, but also vibrant. 20 sec finish that leaves you pondering. Excellent.

  • Really quite nice! Decanted for 1 hour. Prominent oak with spicy notes reminiscent of yellow cedar, ripe plum and dried apple finish the nose. This wine is very balanced with a full and rounded body. Lots of fruit and a long finish make this very enjoyable. Acidity and body are strong enough for several years in the cellar. Not sure if I would leave it another 20 years, but 7 to 10 for sure. Regardless of cellaring potential, it is a very enjoyable bottle right now.

  • Rather disappointing for a premier cru from Burguet in 2005. Good color, very faint nose, yet deep and complex. But the palate was anonymous. Perhaps just closing down but I didn't find anything to make me want to buy or try more.

  • Seattle Burgundy Group Tasting #5 Vosne Romanée (Triage Warehouse): Dark Ruby, Saturated Color, stained legs.

Candied red plum, ginger, cola, jello, cinnamon, clove, vanilla, lots of oak, but the sweet fruit dominates. The candied character is a little distracting, but overall it's a really clean, attractive nose. Earth?

On the palate, intense tannins are almost hidden by rich, sweet, black fruit. Plum, black cherry, candied raspberry, the oak barely even shows on the palate except in the sweet character of the wine. The finish is long, fruity and tannic. This is a really tasty, well made wine, but again, where's the earth?
