  • Interesting aromas of leather, spices, cherries mixed with floral notes resembling soap/perfume. Smooth, medium body, fresh acidity, soft tannins but still present giving an umami feel. The floral aromas come thru with the fresh cherry flavours. The wine starts fruity giving way to the florale notes before a dry medium length finish of dark chocolate and rhubarb. Ready to drink but will hold a couple of more years. 91+

  • Quite open for business but oak is a little too present for me at this stage. Lot of forest fruit, some cherry, blackcurrant menthol drop. Not overripe, quite fresh. Pretty, very dark chocolate on the nose, but the comforting woody vanilla note on the palate could be better integrated. Maybe with a few more years? Nice acidity and some drying tannins make me think this can safely go a while without any problem. Quite pleasant at this point but next one will wait 3 or 4 years and gain complexity.

  • This was so good and ready to drink. It is full bodied and well balanced with great tannins and awesome fruit. You could taste the dark cherries, hint of dark chocolate, some vanilla and coffee after taste. I was some impressed I went and added 3 more to my cellar, if you can get some go now don’t wait.

    Excellent.

  • This is a big one but needs quite some time to show its full potential.
After popping the cork it was very tightly wound and muted. But on the palate it already showed some great stuff like dense fruit with some great acidic core and bold but silky tannins. I left the bottle alone after the first glass and revisited the next day. That’s when things started to come together and I wrote this note.

Medium ruby color. Full aromas of fresh cherry, blackcurrant and some sweet tobacco evolving with hints of Indian spices, licorice and lavender. Full bodied on the palate with dense fruit, fresh acodity and layered tannins that are mouth coating with a silky texture. The finish is very, very long and echoes the initial aromas with a slightly drying undertone.

This wine seems to be a blend between the classic 2006 and 2007 vintages in that it has the freshness and refinement of the ‘06 and the bold fruit of the ‘07. The freshness and the core of fresh acidity suggests that it will have the longevity of the ‘06. I’m looking forward to how this wine will evolve. We are in for some monumental greatness in 10 years time. For now I would say hold your bottles for at least 2-3 more years. And if you can’t resist to open one: give it plenty of time (think >6 hours) to let it slow-ox.
    Drink 2022 - 2035.
