  Amid a continuous and annoying increase in prices beyond quality this was the only Gigondas I bought this year. Admittedly very expensive, but then I'd rather have 6 rather impressive bottles than 24 average, but overpriced Gigondas. Ventabren is playing in a separate ligue, with remarkable tannins build for the long range, subtle wood, tobacco and deep mature berry aromas. A treat.

  Very pretty on the nose, with elegant florals, high-toned red fruit, and a whisper of brushy dried herbs. Palate is medium bodied, with generous ripe red fruit, balanced by garrigue and salty minerals. Sneaky amount of depth, without any oak signature and light silky tannins.

  A very long and sophisticated young Gigondas. It seems poised to be monumentally great. Likely the best Ventabren I have tasted.
