Community Tasting Notes (3)

  • Opened to repalce a faulty 93 Esmonin CSJ and this was lovely. Bright ruby colour; red berry fruit and a touch of secondary development on the nose, following through to palate. Crisp, silky texture, medium weight and a freshness on the finish with good acidity. This isn't particularly complex but shows really lovely Savigny fruit and purity. ***

  • I initially wrote this off as being thin and acidic. Left the rest (poured into a spare half bottle) in the fridge, as it turned out for 2 days, though that was not my intention. To my surprise it was not only drinkable, but improved. While clearly at the delicate and feminine, strawberry end of the Burgundy spectrum, it had put on some weight. Still no more than pleasant, but better. g-

  • Still bright blood/ruby at the core, with just a touch of bricking on the narrow paler rim. Nose is lovely, autumnal, mellow Burgundy. A fresh, sweet, strawberry and raspberry fruit bed, with a trace of truffles and sousbois. Not big or sophisticated, but disarmingly lovely. Mouth entry is well built with fresh fruit at the fore and an earthy base. Mid-palate shows lovely fresh acidity and very refined earthiness. Finish is long and fresh and earthy. Seduces without impressing - great now or for 5 years more. Bare **. **
