  • Took a chance on this wine from winebid.com... I think it was $30. I bought it based on the strength of the vintage.

    Color. Pale red.

    Nose. Fresh Cranberry, anise, charred meats, kirsch, cedar

    Palate. Super yummy! Acidity is bright and welcome. There's a touch of tannin still. Red fruits and a little cocoa powder.

    I really like this wine.

  • A la couleur, tuilée et fatiguée, il est temps de le boire; au nez, cuiré et manquant de fruit, il faut lui donner de l'air. En bouche heureusement, la fraicheur et les tanins rassurent, il va s'en sortir! Tertiaire, alliant sous-bois, épices, réglisse, vieux bois mouillé et fruits macérés a l'alcool (tirant sur le pruneau), il exhale l'automne et l'âtre fumant. La matière acidulée et serrée nous rappelle que 98 reste un grand millésime, solaire et frais, car il ne semble pas du tout fatigué du point de vue de la structure.
    Au final, il manque assurément de magie aromatique, et patine un peu au nez malgré l'aération. J'imagine qu'en magnum ce vin devrait se montrer plus "frais" et séduisant (et se boire encore sur 3/5 ans).

  • Solid enough of a Chateauneuf; it was time to drink. Certainly still a tannic backbone, and not much of a nose, but the drink is pleasant with a bit of a finish.

  • Wonderful aged Chateauneuf. Dark berry and toasty herbs fill the palate. Nice texture and while a bit hollow in the mid palate, has a nice long finish.
