Did this taste better than second day Maverick Twins Cab I also had open? Definitely. Did it live up to being the second wine of a super 2er cru St Julien? Not sure. It's nice enough with an earthy and cassis nose. The palate with earth, dark fruits and cedar oak. It just seems to lack something in the middle and finish, like it's been diluted. The tannins are well integrated. The nose is great, the taste not so good. Conflicted about this one.

Opened and left in its bottle for 1.5 hours. Dark ruby/garnet with a softish orange rim. Closed initially with dump cellar notes, it was better after it was served. Medium + scents with strong cab character; cassis, dark fruit, herbs, bell pepper, cedar notes. Smooth and silky mid palate, meaty with fine grained tannins and med+ acidity. Nice length. Quite good but not a wine with this name in its label.

A different wine than the new croix, in many ways. Round but lacking depth. No nose. Mute. Some chlorine.

I enjoyed this, with the characteristics I'd expect of a decent claret. A bit dry on the mid-palate, but certainly not thin or lacking in body. Long.

2006 Left Bank Red Bordeaux, with Richard Brazier (Handford Wines, London): Quite a bit of dark color here. Dark fruit nose, light herbaceous. A few bitter notes on the palate, green at times, bitter finish. Has decent extract and fleshy fruit but in general its quite harsh. 87
