Twenty Years On Wines, Some Luxury at Home; 4/19/2024-5/9/2024 (Alicante y Madrid - España): Bottle opened three hours before lunch through The Durand when the cork broke in its last stretch (pictured). Due to the high level of sediments finally it was necessary to decant it. Bright ruby colour with orange edges. Smoky vegetable notes of artichoke, liquorice root and lauraceous plants that are mixed with other aromas of old barrel. The fruit is reduced to a puff of bitter cherries. On the palate it has a glyceric texture, a selective acidity, good balance and a well integrated alcohol of just 13.0 ABV. Soft mineral finish with tannins already tamed. Little astringent. In short, despite meeting the expectations of both excellent vintage in Campania and the definitely masculine character, full-bodied and high acidity of the Anglianico grape, presents tannins softened by time. Once again the Hard easy. As simple as that. More than an Al Pacino film (1973).

First go at this in 8+ years. Last one of these, still holding some 2003s. Similar profile as last time. Very masculine, dark fruits, tobacco, iron (gobs of iron), forest floor. There is a good amount of acidity here. Finishes a bit hot and bitter. Drying out. This should be consumed asap.

opened 30 minutes prior to drinking again, but it was not quite what it was when I last opened a bottle in August. Too much acidity, while the cocoa and anise were almost non existent. The nose was still strong but slightly muted compared to the last bottle. The finish was still quite long. On the bright side, the tannins seemed a bit more defined. Not sure this bottle would ever get in balance, but it could have used 4ish more years. Wont open my last bottle until 2024ish.

these tasting notes are being written 12-15 hours after drinking.... It was opened 30 minutes in advance. Very dark ruby, almost purple. Incredible nose! You could smell the dark fruit feet away from the glass and this was outside on the porch. Nose of dark fruit, violets, and a touch of anise. Palate showed dark cherries, anise & cocoa. The finish was long and only matched by the nose. Drinking so well now that its hard to risk decline, but it may improve slightly for another 2-3 years.

Wild berries. Parma. Oak and tobacco. Wide open and oh so charming right now!
