Served blind. Heavier on the palate than the 2014 Ooka Cornas. Easier to recognize as Syrah and old world, but wasn't immediately obvious as St Joseph to me. Surprising reveal!

Quite a bit of VA on the nose, but with nice fruit underneath, red cherry notes, savory, and smoke. Lots of acidity on the palate along with red berry notes, more VA and acetone, and cherry flavors. Good finish. The VA is just a bit too high on this, although the underlying wine is quite good. I enjoyed the previous bottle more, though...

Savory and tart nose of dark berries, olives, thyme and meat. Lots of acidity and strong tannins with blackberries, black olives, and bacon on the palate. Nice finish. Very young but delicious. Great example of old school Syrah, but it did close down a bit with air and the tannins are starting to become dominant. Probably best to wait 5 years. 92+

This was a disjointed mess, with unbalanced funk, acidity, and weird tasting fruit. Something wend wrong here..
