This wine really stood out once again with fresh and vibrant fruit jumping out of the glass. Some spice notes and savory components but the fruit with its freshness and touch of ripeness is the most prevalent feature. It has complexity and is not a one trick pony. I really enjoyed this bottle from beginning to end.

I was looking forward to tasting this with great anticipation, because it is a wine I have not had previously. I new it was well-regarded and it was quickly apparent why. A lucious fruit entry…for lack of a better adjective “gushing”! Red fruit with nice texture, fresh and lively but with body and character. Some savory undertones to make sure it is taken seriously. I thouroughly enjoyed this offering and look forward to another experience. Outstanding bottle!

Wines Done Blind (Zoom!): Tasted blind as part of a 3 wine flight of 2018 Silver Eagle (Rivers-Marie, Flint Knoll and Riverain). None of this data was known until all the wines had been tasted and we discussed them but it was fascinating to see vineyard and vintage be static, yet producer be the variable. Of the 3 wines last night, this seemed to reflect the most oak for me, giving the wine a modern feel. My first whiff of it, I wrote down fresh cinnamon, which ultimately went away. Kiwi, bright strawberry, with a good spine and drive of acid. I was fortunate to be able to save just about 2 ounces for today, to retaste the wine. This for me is a big benefit in writing notes, as it gives me two contexts, two shots to understand the wine, especially given it enjoyed an overnight slow ox in the small 4 ounce tasting bottle. Today, this comes across as more juicy. Strawberry, red apple, with a bit of the kind of tar/savory note that I found in the Flint Knoll version. With more air, the blueberry tone I found in the Rivers-Marie, this now comes through. The wine finishes with a blueberry focus, along with the same spine from yesterday. My sense is that this wine is going to be in a real good place in about 2-3 years.

I've tasted this vintage before but for some reason I didn't write a tasting note.
First of all, the bottle is a monster. Pop n pour. Drinking great right out of the shoot. Fruit forward dark berries. Big mouthfeel. Yummy.

Excellent. 1hr decant. Served at cellar temp, which I highly recommend. It lost some of its impact as it warmed up. Complex PN with a long finish.
