  • This is a good wine but I don’t really get Marsanne: there is not enough acidity and the wine seems too perfumed, in my opinion. But if you like the grape, you might score this higher. It was mentioned that this wine will gain a lot with age and maybe Chapoutier’s white can avoid the premox plague thanks to the wax capsule.

TN: Rather muted on the nose with some faint floral notes. On the palate this shows much more volume and aromatic density full of ripe ordchard fruit and floral aromas, some faint minerality in the background. The wine has quite a nice cut to it keeping it - relatively - fresh and fairly light on the mid palate and finish, more so than the fat/oily attack would make you think. Quite quite nice.

Decanting: A short 30-60 minutes in the decanter should be enough.

  • Tasted at the Matter of Taste Zurich, Top Rated Wines of 2022 Masterclass. A 100% Marsanne from 80 year old vines on decomposed granite soils on top of the Hermitage hill. Orange zest and tangerine, bee wax with a chemical touch, mineral notes of smoke, flour and floral elements. The complexity is amazing, adding more mineraility with time in the glass. The bee wax aroma transports really nicely to the palate which is otherwise very heavy on the acidity and feels not yet ready. Probably best only in 10+ years.

  • Matter of Taste 100 Point Master Class: During a MOT tasting. 100% Marsanne, Elegant palate, lemon, minerals, stone fruit, precise, not flabby or heavy at all, they nailed this one. Luis Gutierrez said that you should drink these either before 5 years or after 15. In between they often close and are in an awkward transition phase.
