Another cool one from the king of Montlouis @francoischidaine The Clos Habert has aromas of ripe peach, apricot, saffron, lanolin and mineral notes. Rich and ripe fruit, but as always nicely balanced by zinging acidity. Slight sweetness to this one. Mid long finish with some peel bitterness and minerals.

This beauty again. I adore this. If this is Chenin then Chenin is one of the world's great white grapes. Sweet but not remotely cloying. Exquisitely balanced, long and giving. Amazingly heavy bottle. Golden. Oily. Unctuous. Serious and rich. Surely a long-haul wine. In twenty years this will be profound.

Pale gold. Exotic nose - quince, lychee, peach, coconut. Oily and dense. "Off-dry" - euphemism for slightly sweet. Deliciously generous. I love this - it's far more versatile than dessert wine, and more affordable than a big Alsace Gewurz. Superb - so seductive.

Golden yellow, rich nose, hint of sweetness but actually a full bodied dry white. New to me. Tasted it with salmon sushi, but think it lost its depth. Good with cheese or on its own. Lots of life left. Depth of a Burgundy without the heaviness. Will try more.

Had this for christmas dinner, "asiatisk ribbe", asian style porkribs. Double decanted it a hour or so before dinner. I wanted the residual sugar to match up with the food, and i hoped this Chenin effort with its 16 gr. could do the tricks, (a bit less typically compared to a spatelse or kabinett though) but unfortunatly it came across as weird and unsettled.
Color was deep (morning urine). On the nose it had some nice varm yellow apple, but after that it was kind of tucked in a wool blanket, and the alcohol 14,5% went in the way of other potential nuances.
My main impression was that it had to much heat on it, 2018 beeing a warm vintage of course, step into the era of climate changes... Or perhaps the bottle was of ( I have read of some problem with preox but are not experient enough to know, maybe I also gave it too much air). I have bought quite a few of the Chidaine in the 2018 vintage, so I hope it was just my bad, and that it is just way to early for it to get into a coherent state.
