@ VINEUM. Oh how I love Thomas Haag his wines at the Schloss Lieser. The 2006 is perhaps a bit fat/sweet, but not simple! Still elegant enough, with delicious marzipan notes...

A private lunch (Restaurant Vineum, Rotterdam, NL): AP 05 07. Seductive and sweet, beautifully layered and complex, peach and blackcurrant leaf, mint, juicy and supple, elegant amd balanced, long. No sign of any excessive sweetness today.

I agree with previous reviewers that this is just a tad sweet and sugary, especially on the front palate. But such is the style of the vintage. And that is really quite a pity, because otherwise it has a lot going for it. The nose is fresh and youthful, with aromas of flowers and slate and herbs; on the palate the fruit (peach, citrus, apple, cassis) is succulent and well-defined, and there is lots of zippy acidity and mineral drive; the finish is playful and long. My guess is that this will probably need another ten years to fully integrate the residual sugar. If it does, it may score considerably higher than it does today.

Too sweet for the acid, not what I expected from this producer. Tasted like a sweeter wine. I agree with the other reviews along these lines.

Beautiful wine, but a bit out of balance at the moment as the sweetness overpowers the acidity. I hope that the sweetness will fade over time.
