  • This wine was directly sourced from PGC in the early spring of 2022. The cork was pulled using a Durand but a waiters corkscrew would have probably worked just fine. The cork was 1/3 wine soaked and it was still intact. There was very fine sediment. The wine was decanted in a Grassl Carafe at cellar temperature for 60 minutes before the 1st pour, which was consumed out of a Sensory stem. The wine was poured back into the bottle after approximately 2.5 hours. Half of the wine was consumed prior to it returning to the bottle and the second half of the bottle was consumed over a couple more hours.

The bouquet was of dried flowers, barnyard funk, forest floor and minerality. The palate was of tart cherries, light pepper and earth tones. There was bright acidity with minimal tannins. The wine was medium bodied.

The wine in on the downside of its peak drinking window but it was still very enjoyable. In my opinion, it is a hair behind the 2008 in structure and overall balance. If you have any in your cellar, I suggest drinking them within the next year or two. I beleove there is more life left in the 2008 than the 2005.The PGC drinkability chart suggests to drink or hold the 2005 Bonshaw, where as the 2008 suggests to hold or drink.

  • Sadly it’s past it’s time. Fruit is really declining and little structure. It’s zingy and not corked but wow the end of the cork was sludgy.

  • This is nearing peak--just wonderful. Black cherry, earth, and violets galore. Long finish. What a pleasure

  • this is an intense, well structured Pinot with loads of black berries and bing cherries.

  • Really solid PGC wine. As you would expect from them. It really started to shine classic ribbon ridge on the second day. Which leads me to believe that a decent decant would serve it well. Solid wine. I would rate it very good to excellent. 87 points!
