This is still a huge and brooding wine for an Oregon pinot. No bricking and a nearly opaque Tyrian purple. Great nose where cherry pie fills the room with notes of plum in the glass with a base note of lilies. All red fruit in the mouth with a long finish. There is an odd aftertaste that is almost brett like--but more gamey like dry aged beef or the smell of cured ham. Not bad--but interesting and I can see where the almost syrah color and gamey notes would throw people off.

Typical for the vintage in Oregon, dense dark color, very ripe black fruit and slightly roasty. Pinot for syrah lovers. Lovers of subtle will disagree w/ my score!

The nose is medium in size and gives off vapors of dried red cherries and plums with a sweet spicey perfume. The taste exhibits tannins and some acid which is not yet balanced with the fruit. The fruit shows flavors of red cherries and bright plums. This wine is not yet ready to drink but should develop and be delicious over the next five years. Try it again in about two years.

Memorial Day weekend in Willamette; 5/30/2004-5/31/2004 (Willamette Valley OR): Barrel tasting at winery. Rich fruit to start but less density. Good tannins and acidity but these don't quite seem in balance with the fruit today.
