Surprisingly young for being over 30 years old. Clean- Lemon, orange, pear and a hint of apricot. It was screaming to be decanted and enjoyed with a meringue for dessert.

Simple, fresh, pleasant, citrus-dominated nose with a bit of cream and fresh sugar. Fresh palate, lots of clementine. Not particularly distinguished, but nice. That said, this was a quick pour without a lot of air. Often, Sauternes needs just as much air as claret! So was it a disservice to pop and pour? Hard to say - it didn't seem like it was holding much back. 91ish.

Coravin 12/4/13: Birth year wine opened on my birthday. Color is surprisingly young for the age, light yellow-golden; nose is intense with minerals, peach, white fruits, fresh, but also generating some additional secondary complexity like copper; palate is light-medium bodied, fresh, minerals throughout, some white fruits though fading through the midpalate, medium acid; finish is short, light, slightly bitter. This is a dichotomous wine: a very classic barsac, young and complex on the nose with good stuffing to age, though the palate is a bit thinner without much ageability. This is superb now as an accompaniment to food and will likely last years, though I don't expect it to improve. Nose 92-93, palate 88, overall 90. 12/9/13: Similar to first note.

Clean and pure, with moderate botrytis and tropical fruits, this Sauternes is well proportioned with acidity in balance with its sweetness. While certainly not rich and powerful, Ch. Filhot offers a relatively restrained yet lovely drinking experience.
