  • Dumb period? What dumb period? This 2018 is open for business and drinking like a premier cru chambolle musigny. Elegant and light, but with some power and spice, plus wonderful texture. Plenty of structure to age for another decade, but honestly, why wait?!

  • Decanted for an hour, poured off a small glass and back to bottle. Was tight and unyielding so I returned the bottle to cellar temp. Notes from 18h later.

Lovely nose of wet earth, cherry, mushroom, and a tinge of herbs. Palate is lovely and with tons of energy. Bright red cranberries and cherries, hints of earth. Very light and ethereal. Finish shows a nice bit of acidity and tannic structure with plenty of life to go.

This should cellar beautifully for another 10 years. No rush and give plenty of air before drinking. 92-93 range.

  • Drank on day two of being open, the wine needs it- pretty closed otherwise.

Pours a pale--> medium purple in the glass, developing med + int. aromas of black & red raspberry, sour cherry, cedar, clove, game/smoke (not smoke taint), some tomato leaf/bitter/green herbs (rosemary, rose hip, stemmy- whole cluster?). Really too young to judge. Flavors match the palate: Dry wine, med body, med + acid, med tannin, med alcohol, med + flavor intensity, med finish (needs to develop). Tannins are present, not overwhelming- pretty green at the moment, acidity is there, keeping the fruit fresh and vervy. Overall, very good-->outstanding with a few years of time. Too young, requires age.

Glad I have one more, I can't wait to see this in 5-8+yrs from now.

  • Outstanding. I was a little concerned the wine might be shut down, but let me assure you, it most certainly is not. 2018 wasn’t my favorite OR vintage, with the heat creating darker fruited, hotter wines, on average. However, this wine is not that. Marcus really knows what he’s doing here and the wine is noticeable lighter in color that other producer’s 2018s, and carries the same ethereal and fragrant qualities of a great burgundy that I loved in his 2015s, 2017s, 2019s, and 2021s. Impressive winemaking to say the least. What a fantastic wine, and something you can confidently buy year after year.
