Rhys vs White Burgundy Blind (A collector's home): Wine B. Smoky and flinty nose, with some citrus rind. Chalky palate, higher acid with clenched lemon fruit and a drying finish. I guessed this to be a youngish White Burgundy.

This was opened for about an hour prior to tasting.
It was in a line up of Chardonnays served blind (including some Burgundies):
1. 2013 Marcassin 2. 2019 Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Mouchère 3. 2018 Kongsgaard Chardonnay The Judge 4. 2021 Faiveley Bâtard-Montrachet 5. 2022 Walter Scott Chardonnay X-Novo Vineyard 6. 2020 Henri Boillot Corton-Charlemagne
2019 Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Mouchère - Easily identified as Burgundy with lots of minerality and acidity, specifically lemon oil, oyster shell, and saline -- very Chablis-like (even though it was a Montrachet). Still young...I would love to taste this in a few years with some age. Still, 95+ now, and some upside, IMO.

Comes in with some minerality that I liked a lot. Very balanced and fresh. Clean, refreshing and lovely. Once it was revealed I was not surprised, but was also a bit bummed out because HB does not use DIAM. That might not stop me though tbh.

Palate: Awesome freshness on the palate with lime and stone fruits. The crispness is on point here, with fresh crisp pears and nice juiciness. There's a gentle prickliness on the palate that makes this quite exciting. This was like a searing lightning bolt from the heavens, striking with amazing precision and freshness.

A stylish and pure nose of meyer lemon, struck flint and light toasty notes opens out to deeper suggestions of smoked almonds, buttered apple and quince, with wafts of thyme and mint. Texture, tension and body are in abundance, with an almost painfully intense, mouth-coating concentration on the mid-palate. Crushed salt emerges on the finish, which expands across the palate into a long-lived crescendo. So young, but so much potential. With grilled lobster tails, butter and breadcrumbs. 94+

Eyes Wide Shut - Day 1 (A quiet place): Nose: Fresh lime, clean and dried hay, crushed dried stones, and crisp peaches.
